Suzan Tobias Scholl
As an Herbalist; I am mostly self-taught. In my professional life I was a Registered Nurse Certified in Emergency Medicine and a Life Flight Nurse. As I practiced, I found many questions unanswered by the Western Medical (allopathic) Model in which I practiced for thirty years. Although my career was exciting, I felt that I was missing the practice of true healing. Recalling my great uncle Solomon Tobias and the forays he made into the deep woods of Pennsylvania; the bottles of "healing herbal medicine" he kept on his sunroom porch walls; and the remedies he effected for family, neighbors, and friends- I realized that there was another way to heal. As a young woman I was blessed to live in a "neighborhood of Crones" - four older ladies who planted by the moon and taught me the "Olde Ways." Now, I am a Crone! Thirty some years ago I began to study Alternative Healing- practicing Reiki, Reflexology, and "Hands-on Healing." I wanted to help others the way my Great Uncle Sol had, so I began my study of the plants around us. I am now a student and a practitioner of both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Herbalism. I have studied with Christopher Hobbs and Patricia Kiritsi Howell and have read and studied all of Matthew Woods' and David Winston's published information. I have not forgotten my body and the way it works. I can teach you abut yours. When I moved to Alabama, I became a Master Gardener and founded the local Herb Club to facilitate shared experiences about Herbal life. I felt compelled to establish a "community" of Herbal learning. During that time I also published "Sweet Thymes" Quarterly which covered all aspects of Herbal living. I have written Herb articles for local newspapers and have appeared on television to "gossip about Herbs." I teach classes about "Life's Nourishment with Herbs- Healing yourself The Olde Way"; and have contributed articles to magazines. I do not do consults. I am not an herbal clinician. I am a teacher. My specialty is introducing common people to their own body's Anatomy and Physiology and opening a window of understanding into the green world around us. I am good at what I do. I spend time engendering interest and thought about Health and Herbs around Lineville, Alabama. [email protected] |
