GLYCERIN AND VINEGAR TINCTURES

Grind Dry HERB to coarse powder.

  1. Place into large jar which can be tightly closed.
  2. If Blending Other Ingredients (water, vinegar, alcohol) with glycerin for menstruum, mix all together before adding to HERB.
  3. Add Menstruum to HERB.
  4. Stir well so that HERB is wet.
  5. Add enough Menstruum so that ¼ inch sits atop the HERB.
  6. Cap jar / Use wax paper between jar and lid.
  7. Check Jar after 12 hours. If the HERB has absorbed the Menstruum, add Menstruum to cover by ¼ inch.
  8. Shake the “Glycerite” frequently for 14 days.
10. Decant Liquid, PRESS the wet pulp, Combine the liquids.
11. Filter if desired.(Will filter slowly due to thickness)
12.  Bottle; Tightly Cap; and Label.
*Notes* Natural Menstruum for Children’s Medicine.
Glycerin gathers water from the air. So you will end up with more (Menstruum) than you started with. Adjust the dosage accordingly. Glycerin is naturally sweet; but contains no sugar.

HERBS that Tincture Well With Glycerin:

Burdock                       Chamomile                   Cleavers                      Dandelion

Echinacea                    Elder                            Fennel                          Ginger

Goldenseal                  Hawthorn                     Mugwort                      Mullein

Nettle                           Oat                              Peppermint                  Scullcap

Siberian Ginseng         Uva Ursi                       Vitex                            Valerian

Vinegar Tincture

  1. Reduce Dried Herb or Bark to Coarse Powder.

  2. Combine with Pure Undiluted Vinegar

  3. Macerate for 10-14 Days; Shaking Frequently

  4. Strain; Pour into Sterilized Bottle. Cap.

  5. If Herb is a Bark: After Straining, Heat to Boiling Point- Do not Boil.

  6. Filter While Hot. Pour into Sterilized Bottles. Cap.

    *Notes* Vinegar Tincture should be made annually. Do not use White Vinegar; Use:  Apple Cider Vinegar, Rice Vinegar, and Wine Vinegar


    Aromatic Vinegar Recipe [James Green] Soothing water for bathing the forehead and temples whenever headaches and prolong stress arise. Make ahead and refrigerate.

    1. To ½ Cup Alcohol, add 1 drop each of Lavender Essential Oil [EO], Rosemary EO, Juniper EO, Peppermint EO, Cinnamon EO, and 2 drops each of Lemon EO, and Clove EO.

    2. Shake this well to dissolve the oil into the alcohol.

    3. Add ½ Cup pure A.C. Vinegar and shake again.

    4. Add 1 Cup Distilled Water. Shake

    5. Let stand for 8 days with frequent agitation.

    6. Filter and store in tightly closed glass bottle.
